If the voice of the person you are calling sounds good but your voice sounds distorted on the other end, try lowering your microphone volume. If the microphone volume is too high, the peaks of your voice signal will be cut and the sound quality will decline.
Also check the advanced microphone control and make sure that the microphone boost is not selected. The boost option may be labeled "+20dB Gain" or something similar.
